This page explains what happens to personal data when you use theshish.co.uk. It covers this website only. Eating with us, ringing us and ordering food are separate, and where they are run by another company we say so below.

What this website collects

Nothing. There is no contact form, no newsletter sign-up, no account and no shopping basket on this site. It is a set of static pages: your browser downloads them and that is the end of it.

It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. If you use a browser extension that reports cookies on a page, anything it finds here came from one of the third parties below rather than from us.

Server logs

The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which records requests the way any web server does: IP address, the page requested, the time, and the browser’s user-agent string. That is how it serves the pages and how it blocks attacks, and it is the lawful basis of legitimate interests. We do not use those logs to build a picture of individual visitors, and we do not combine them with anything else.

If we use Cloudflare’s own analytics, it is the cookieless kind: it counts page views without identifying the browser between visits, which is why this site has no cookie banner.

Other companies’ services on this site

The map

Our find us page and the bottom of the homepage embed a Google Map. It loads from Google, which means Google receives your IP address and may set cookies in your browser when the map appears. That is Google’s processing under its own privacy policy, not ours. The rest of each page works with the map blocked, if you would rather block it.

Ordering and booking

Order Now and Book a Table leave this site for order.theshish.co.uk, which is a separate ordering and reservations system. Anything you type there — your name, your phone number, your address, your payment details — is collected by that system and handled under its terms and privacy notice, which you should read there. Nothing you enter on it comes back to this website.

Links to review sites and our hygiene rating

Links to Google, Tripadvisor, Instagram, Facebook and the Food Standards Agency are ordinary links: nothing is sent anywhere until you click one, and after that you are on their site under their rules.

Fonts and images

Every font and every photograph on this site is served from our own domain. Nothing is fetched from Google Fonts or a third-party CDN, so loading a page tells no one but our host that you did.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask what personal data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to how it is used, and complain to the regulator. In practice this website holds nothing to ask about. If you have eaten with us, booked a table or ordered food, though, we may hold something from that, and the same rights apply.

Ring us on 01403 257777 and ask. If you are not satisfied with how we handle it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If this notice changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. There is no mailing list to notify, because we do not have one.
